Tourism-cum-Cultural festival 2011, which is being organized by the Bhaderwah Development Authority in collaboration with other line Departments, District Development Commissioner Doda, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Khan convened a meeting of the District and Sectoral Officers here at Doda today to review the preparedness for the event. .
Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda Mr. A.R Natnoo, Chief Planning Officer Doda Mr. Yassir Balwan, Assistant Commissioner Development Doda Mr. R.A Chowdary, Chief Executive Officer Bhaderwah Development Authority Mr. Kalyan Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Bhaderwah Mr. S.V Meena, Assistant Director Tourism Batote Mr. Tariq Hussain and Additional Superintendent of Police Bhaderwah Mr.. T. R Katoch, besides other District and Sectoral Officers were atended the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, DDC Doda said that Bhaderwah was fast emerging as a hub of tourist activity in the District which needs to be fully explored so that the people can take benefits of the growing tourism sector in the region.
He said that the area has huge potential and it can attract the tourists from India and across the globe. He said that the motive behind organizing tourism-cum cultural festival was to explore and boost the tourism activity in the District, besides preserving the local cultural heritage. He said that tourism is the vital and important component of state’s economy and district as well which will definitely get a boost by such events.
It was finalized in the meeting that the celebrations of four day Bhaderwah tourism-cum-Cultural Festival will start on May 27 and will culminate on May 30.
The DDC impressed upon all the District and sectoral officers to work in coordinated manner for the grand success of the event.
It was also decided in the meeting that all the line departments will participate in the festival by establishing their stalls exhibiting their achievements and ongoing projects in the District and keep their resource persons available at the stall to give first hand information about various welfare schemes of various Departments. He also asked the departments dealing in employment generation to actively participate in the festival and utilize the opportunity to create awareness among the unemployed educated youth of the District regarding various state and centrally sponsored self employment schemes to encourage them to establish their own income generating units and become self reliant.
Special cultural programmes, dramas, skits and folk songs by the School children, Song and Drama Division and Cultural Academy Doda during the festival would form an important part of the 4 day event.
Various Sporting events, which include swimming and boating, tug of war etc will be organized by the District Youth Services and Sports department.
It was also decided that adequate transport facility will be provided the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation during the festival so that the people don’t face any inconvenience of transport during the festival.
DDC also directed SE PWD (R&B) Division Doda to ensure that road to Jai tourist resort in Bhaderwah should be open for all sort of vehicular movement during the festival. Besides this various other necessary arrangements were also discussed which includes security, drinking water, medicare etc.
